LOS ANGELES UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT JUANITA TATE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ASPIRE CHARTER SCHOOLS
The Los Angeles Unified School District constructed 135 new schools and Juanita Tate Elementary School is a new small inner-city school focused on creating a safe and nurturing environment for 950 K-6 students, administrators and teachers. This high-density design campus consists of a two-story 56,000 square foot classroom building over a below grade parking garage, a single story kindergarten building with adjacent play area, and a joint-use multipurpose/kitchen building. In the center of the campus is a secure hard-surface play area. Environmental strategies include forced air systems design, energy-efficient lighting, water-efficient plumbing fixtures, site storm water controls, and sustainable building and finish materials. The environmental strategies meet CHPS criteria, and conform to the requirements of the LADWP green building program. Aspire Charter operates the school.
